Do objects, like humans, have complex inner selves? This question underlies the concept for the Ghost Collection.
At first glance this early series seems straightforward in form and material, but in the right light ghostly forms become visible under the rigid plexiglass surface. They are silhouettes of futuristic chairs with spectral organic forms, prodigies of objects that cannot yet be constructed. Thus the ghost of the future is, as it were, trapped in the reality of earlier forms and styles.
Studio Drift used an ingenious technique in this design. By allowing two laser beams to intersect, an air bubble is created at the point of contact. The silhouettes in the furniture are made up of these miniscule air bubbles.
