Crafted by Hitomi Hosono, this graceful Yellow Jasper Daisy Bowl is a shallow, wide-open welcoming shape that allows cascades of hand-applied white bas relief daisies to run freely — or as she describes it: “to inhabit and chat to each other travelling in a group, or being like a Milky Way in the sky or a sunny flower field”. She chose the daisy from the Wedgwood archives, attracted to its cheerfulness and tiny yet perfect shape, with even petals radiating from its small centre. With its potential to be applied in groups and raised clusters, the daisy is a defining, exquisitely detailed theme for several pieces within the collection. Her Japanese title for the Yellow Daisy Bowl is Hinata, meaning place with sunlight, warmth and flowers, which exactly defines this beautiful piece.
This bowl took approximately 26 hours to produce and consists of 348 single ornament applications.
